Most of us think of vacations as a luxury, But are they?
When we're stressed or over-worked the statement "I need a vacation" may have validity. While I was doing research I found an article https://www.allinahealth.org/
Think about how you feel on a vacation. The break from the real world and stress, from the day-to-day; your job, school, and even people. It's an opportunity to rejuvenate and reset. So this made me wonder about our performance when returning back from vacation, are we better? Apparently I am not the only one that wondered because I found a study titled "Effects of January vacations on Resident's absite performance".
The link https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.
I am sure you can see where this is going. Out of 55 residents and 170 scores reviewed the mean score when taking a vacation before the test was 48.6, compared to those who didn't vacation with a mean of 36.3. That's a significant difference.
I don't know about you Residents but I think it's time to take advantage of those year end Expedia deals and book a January vacation. As if a break from the cold and snow to be on the beach isn't enough reason, you can justify it for your educational performance!
